Why Is My HVAC Thermostat in Recovery Mode?
If you’ve ever noticed that your thermostat’s display window indicates that it’s in recovery mode, you probably felt a moment of panic. You can relax because this message usually doesn’t mean there’s a problem. Keep reading to learn why your HVAC thermostat in Middleburg, FL, is in recovery mode.
What’s Recovery Mode?
Recovery mode is a notification that appears in the display window on your home’s HVAC thermostat. The actual message may read “recovery” or “smart recovery.” There also may be a small icon or other illuminated light somewhere on the device indicating it’s in recovery mode.
Recovery Mode and Your Settings
The settings that you program into your thermostat are often the reason you see a recovery mode message displayed. When you program your HVAC system to heat or cool your home to a specific temperature at a set time, the thermostat goes into recovery mode one to two hours before the specified temperature is set to begin. When your home reaches the programmed temperature, the recovery mode message will disappear.
Recovery Mode Indicating a Problem
Occasionally, the recovery mode message will appear to indicate that there’s a problem with the HVAC system or the thermostat. Some smart thermostats read and remember patterns of temperatures previously set for specific times and then switch to them automatically. However, if a power surge or other issue occurs, the pre-programmed settings are often erased altogether, leaving your thermostat to go into recovery mode randomly.
